How did men get to be so defective?
The sensible, fair, and necessary expansion of female employment and general social efficacy have been accompanied by a devaluation, almost a mockery, of maleness. From sitcoms to sociology seminars, males are regarded as imperfect ipso facto. Perhaps one clue is that over 40% of births in the industrial world are to women without husbands who may appear worth neither the time nor the affection. But what is happening to the males who fail to acquire education and family status?
Lionel Tiger is a Canadian-born, American-based anthropologist. He is the Charles Darwin Professor of Anthropology at Rutgers University, a consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense on the future of biotechnology, contributor to Psychology Today and The New York Times, and the author Men in Groups and The Decline of Males, where he predicts the higher status of women within society.
