About the Event
For life to be fulfilling, both women and men must be both loved and respected.
Under the premise that humanity has traditionally directed its respect primarily toward men and its love primarily toward women, Goldich asks us to ponder fundamental questions: What would it be like to truly respect women—not as the preferred “powerless victims” under “patriarchy,” but rather to respect Woman as powerful participant and ultimately equal partner in the vast gender “dance” that molds our human world? What would it be like to truly love men—not as “patriarchal oppressors,” but rather to empathize with Man for suffering being less loved as much as Woman suffers being less respected? What would it be like to love men enough to lend them both accountability and compassion, and respect women enough to lend them both compassion and accountability?
What if Woman and Man gave up the destructive contest for the title of Most Powerless Victim and simply called it a draw? How might gender politics and gender relations be transformed for the better?
Tim Goldich is an author who has devoted the last twenty-five years to researching, pondering, and writing a four-book series on gender issues. The first book—Loving Men, Respecting Women: The Future of Gender Politics—was published in 2011 and is available on Amazon.com. The second book—Love and Respect in the Past: The History of Gender Equality—is due out this fall. He also created a series of YouTube videos under the umbrella title of “Man Against the Wall.” He is president of the Chicago chapter of the National Coalition For Men and an avid member of the ManKind Project, two organizations that variously support men politically and emotionally. He is editor of Transitions: A Journal of Men’s Perspectives, the longest running journal of its kind. He is also an educator and mentor to boys on their way to becoming men. Finally, Goldich facilitates the personal growth work of men on New Warrior Training Adventure weekends, and of men and women on personal growth weekends called Path To Spirit. Tim’s latest venture is the founding a new Internet-based organization calling itself, Gender Equalists: Transforming gender political space for fairness, forgiveness, and unity.
