“…footage shows protesters engaging in violence, harassment, and intimidation, bullying an individual who attended to better understand why his two friends committed suicide and another individual being followed by a protester shouting ‘you are fucking scum, rape apologist, incest supporting women hating fucking scum’.” (Wonderful, is it not, what a university education can do these days to improve the diction of our young people! Our tax dollars are well-spent! )
His subject was the crisis among boys and how they were not doing well educationally, leading to multiple adult problems.
Farrell is enormously respected for his challenge to the assumption that men have total power, and he is also controversial because he has questioned some of the statistics about abuse, rape and gender imbalance.
He supports his claims with a great deal of research, of course, but none of this matters to those who would silence him. There were around 100 of these fanatics at the university before he spoke, ripping down posters, threatening and insulting anybody who tried to attend the lecture, and explaining as only heavily funded students can do, “You should be f—ing ashamed of yourself, you f—ing scum” to those with whom they disagreed. There is ample video evidence.
They gave Nazi salutes to the police and screamed in their faces that they were “f—ing scum and f—ing pigs,” including to the women police officers.
Why some of them were not arrested is beyond me, as they were clearly physically intimidating other people. But failure to arrest violent thug leftists is now common at such events.
The ugliness and stupidity of the mob was invincible. Caked in bad makeup and piercings, their faces creased in hatred and self-loathing, they screamed at Farrell and anybody who wanted to hear him — supporters or opponents — and tried to block all of the exits and entrances. They laughed at and abused anybody who told personal stories about tragedy and suffering, chanted that men’s rights groups were hate groups, and proudly stated their intention was to close down the event and prevent free speech.
In spite of all this, Farrell did speak, and spoke well. But to think that feminism has so often become this, and to see the true shape of the contemporary women’s movement is sad indeed. As the left so like to say, “shame, shame, shame.” http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/2017271843001 a ten minute video
This is the world that ‘progressives’ have created. A world where the right to protest is conflated with the right to deny people the right to hear points of view that ideologues find threatening. A world that awards victory to those who can scream the loudest in an attempt to intimidate an audience with their rage—as if outrage constitutes proof of the veracity of one’s position. A world where the intensity of feeling trumps the quality of thought. A world where victimologists make victims out of those who want to learn, discuss and debate while authorities do nothing. A world when a tiny fraction of ‘students’ (and paid union reps) can bully the majority.
I had a preview of this unfolding world more than 35 years ago when “Women’s Studies” was established at Simon Fraser University, the same factory of ideological programming that Meghan Murphy —editor of “The Feminist Current” and mouthpiece of blatant anti-male sexism—graduated from. I recall an occasion when a brave and foolish visiting (male) professor came into the lion’s den to explain his hypothesis that a disproportionate number of women who are raped are perceived by their attackers as “attractive”, in other words, his data contested the assertion that rape was a crime of power not of passion. He could not get his words out. Protesters swarmed the lecture hall and drowned him out with epithets and chants. One of my professors, Dr. Warren Williams, who taught German history, said those same tactics were employed by Nazi students and brownshirts at German universities in the early thirties.
This was the political climate that drove sociobiology off the stage in the late sixties. In the classes I attended, mere mention of Konrad Lorenz, Robert Ardrey, Lionel Tiger or E.O.Wilson provoked hisses and sneers and charges of ‘fascism’. Thus those of us who majored in political science, sociology and anthropology (PSA) or English were taught the rudiments of Cultural Marxism in a hothouse environment and emerged as parrots of an untested catechism. It took me decades to recover, and whatever truth I know now was earned in spite of that “education”.
Now, after forty lost years, sociobiology is thankfully making a comeback, rebranded as “evolutionary psychology”. Pity, because the social justice narrative has bent the minds of two generations and infected all levels of policy making, especially in the area of free speech. We owe our kangaroo courts to that mentality. As Marcuse told us boomers, “Fascists have no right to speak.”
Identity politics have made a mockery of academic study. A liberal arts degree obtained from a Canadian university is simply a certification of indoctrination, of no more credibility or worth than a liberal arts degree obtained in Havana or North Korea. As far as “Women’s Studies” go, what a joke! These are junk degrees.
The questions that Canadian taxpayers need to ask is, “Why do we need to fund propaganda? Why must we subsidize feminist madrassas and pseudo-scientific ideological boot camps that cultivate and rationalize the totalitarian impulse that is in all of us? Where is the ‘science’ in the social sciences as they are presently taught? If universities are meant to be places where students can be exposed to a variety of ideas and have the ability to discuss them in a calm deliberative setting then why are these bullies tolerated? Why are they not met with a robust physical response—- arrested, charged with a serious criminal offence and banned from Canadian campuses for life? Why is there not a student Bill of Rights enshrined in law—as David Horowitz has prescribed—-to ensure that college students get what they paid for, an education rather than indoctrination?”. Why are there no Canadian university administrators endowed with the backbone of the late Vancouver-born S.I. Hayakawa of San Francisco State, who didn’t flinch one iota in dealing with these arrogant thugs in the only language they understand? Could it be that they are silent partners and proponents of the One Party Classroom? Silly question.
Notwithstanding its woeful record on the environment, the Conservative government of Stephen Harper has made spectacular strides this year in recovering some essential constituents of democracy to Canadian society (though regrettably not in parliament). The removal of Section 13—the censorship weapon wielded by our so called Human “Rights” Tribunals— was merely one of them. Shining the light on the longstanding and flagrant misuse by environmental organizations, trade unions and native band councils of taxpayer money were others. Canadians are fed up with seeing their taxes and union dues conscripted in the service of ideologies and partisan causes they abhor, or wasted on corrupt native governments and self-serving self-contained bureaucracies like the Ministry of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs and the CBC.
Much work remains to be done. It is to be hoped that one day soon, they can bring free speech to the two institutions that need it most. The CBC and the universities and colleges which graduate our future leaders. It is time somebody put an end to this farce. Let’s take back Canada.

The Face of Campus Fem-fascism
Once again a faction of Canadian ‘feminists’ display their respect for the rights of students
News item: shrill protesters attempt to block entry to Dr. Warren Farrell’s lecture. http://equalitycanada.com/cafe-response-warren-farrell

Michael Coren said this of Dr. Farrell’s lecture:
