Are Men Obsolete? Leading Canadian Masculinity Researchers Weigh In Thursday U of T
TORONTO, ONTARIO — (March 15, 2016) After ten thousand years of technological and cultural revolutions, have men become obsolete? Canada’s leading masculinity researchers, Katherine Young and Paul Nathanson, discuss their explosive new book “Replacing Misandry: A Revolutionary History of Men” this Thursday, March 17th at 7:00PM at the University of Toronto.
The event is hosted by the U of T Men’s Issues Awareness Society and sponsored by the Canadian Association for Equality, an educational charity focused on the health and well-being of boys, men, fathers and families.
When Young and Nathanson last spoke at the University of Toronto, in April 2013, a law-breaking protest erupted, requiring a police response.
Young and Nathanson of McGill University have jointly co-authored a series of shocking books exposing misandry in our cultural, legal and political spheres. They analyze the severe consequences of anti-male bias, from society’s humorous response to violence against men to the lengthier jail sentences men face when convicted of crimes.
Their previous books include “Spreading Misandry: The Teaching of Contempt for Men in Popular Culture,” “Legalizing Misandry: From Public Shame to Systemic Discrimination Against Men,” and “Sanctifying Misandry: Goddess Ideology and the Fall of Man.”
The event will take place at the Banting Institute Room BI 131 at 100 College St at the University of Toronto.
