MEDIA ADVISORY – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fundraising for Toronto’s First “Men’s Centre” Nears Halfway Point

Canadian Association for Equality Secures $20K, Announces Additional $10K Matching Drive

TORONTO, ONTARIO — (August 19, 2013) The Canadian Centre for Men and Families (CCMF) has secured $20,000 in donations for the Campaign to Establish the Canadian Centre for Men and Families, nearing the halfway point milestone of its $50,000 goal.

Additionally, a donor has pledged $10,000 in matching funds toward a membership drive for the organization.

“The Canadian Centre for Men and Families today launches a membership drive that, if successful, will bring us into the home stretch of the Campaign,” said Malcolm Johnston, CCMF Spokesperson. For the next 4 weeks, until September 15, all membership funds will count as double.

“Now is the perfect time to join an organization that is willing to speak out in critical but marginalized areas like violence against men, the declining educational performance of boys, and the bias against fathers in our family courts,” said Johnston.

The mission of the Canadian Centre for Men and Families is to establish the first space in Toronto for services, research, advocacy, outreach and public education on all aspects of issues related to boys, fathers, men and families.
